About the Flag
"The Paraguay flag consists of three equal horizontal bands. The top strip is red, the middle strip is white and the bottom strip is blue and there is an emblem in the center of the white strip. There are two different emblems on the flag; The emblem on the front of the flag is the state emblem of the country, while the emblem on the back is the country’s Treasury Seal.
The state coat of arms is a five-pointed yellow star placed on a blue disc, and the surrounding olive and palm branches and a circular band outside the Republic of Paraguay, the official name of the country written in Spanish. In the coat of arms of the Seal of Treasure is a symbol of a lion protecting the red-colored Phrygian hat and a strip of ‘Paz y Justica’, the national motto of the country, which means peace and justice.
Paraguay flag colors are inspired by the French flag. These colors are considered the colors of freedom and independence. The red color symbolizes equality, courage, and patriotism, white color symbolizes unity, purity and peace, blue freedom, charity, and righteousness. The emblem on the front represents the country’s date of independence, 14 May 1811. The olive branch represents peace, while the palm branch represents honor.
